About Me
I'm Penelope Kaufer, I am a screenwriter and filmmaker with a diverse background in the entertainment industry. My journey began as a child in the theatre and modeling industry, which eventually led me to the film industry in 2003, where I started out as a PA in the costume department in Tony Scott's film "Man on Fire."
To pay for film school in Los Angeles, I worked in commercials and movies in the extras department before specializing in writing and post-production. I was fortunate to earn an internship with the 24th Street Theatre, which was paid for by the LA County Arts Commission and the Getty Foundation. During my time there, I was responsible for running and building their website.
After completing film school, I worked as a copywriter for Channel 62 and as a reader in Robert Evans' office at Paramount Pictures.
My expertise in writing historical bioepics led me to be hired by a French company based in Corsica called Mediterranean Dreams, where I wrote a script about the life of Napoleon III. I also wrote another script about the Second Mexican Empire and an adaptation of an Alexandre Dumas unknown story. Since then, I've moved back to Mexico City, where I've worked on various productions in many capacities, including assistant director, CGI, and editorial departments.

I'm also proud to have written several award-winning scripts, including "Green Card Cell," which was a finalist in the Videocine Comedy Contest, "Inferior Instincts," which was a finalist in the Catalyst Film Festival in Duluth, Minnesota, and "Dementia," which was finalist in the Angular Script Contest in 2021. It was an honor to have Guillermo Arriaga as one of the jurors for that contest. We recently finished filming "Dementia" and are finalizing it to submit to other film festivals as a short film. My passion is writing and bringing stories to life, and my background in CGI and post-production has allowed me to be involved in technical aspects such as 3D modeling, VR rendering, virtual production, and motion capture. Overall, I'm excited to continue exploring new opportunities and bringing fresh, innovative stories to the screen.
